Crate and Barrel. Since our day trip to Nashville, we have been cultivating a look and feel from each of the high end stores we shopped. If you haven’t seen those posts, you can find them here: Luxury Shopping at West Elm, and Luxury Shopping at RH.
Today, we are diving deep into the shopping experience at Crate and Barrel. As I walked up to the display window, I grabbed my husband’s arm and nearly squealed. I was peering into a store that was completely and totally our vibe. Some stores I visit have bits and pieces of our aesthetic, or they have a specific article or object that suits our style. But Crate and Barrel was literally EVERYTHING. Of all the places we visited, Crate and Barrel held me the longest, and inspired me the most.
Crate and Barrel Textured Textiles
The textiles at Crate and Barrel are always lovely. They are high quality; the color saturation is deep and bold, the weaves are tight, the seams and zippers are always strong. I’ve never been disappointed with the pillows and throws, napkins, or fabrics from C&B. In fact, I purchased a set of four napkins while in the store. I rarely do that. I need time to consider my options, to shop my choices. But when I saw these, I knew they were EXACTLY what I’d been looking for and would suit our apartment perfectly.
Crate and Barrel Accessories
When it comes to accessories and decor pieces, Crate and Barrel can’t be beat. There was so much to look at from sculptural vases and vessels, to book ends, to figurines and books.
The Jake Arnold book is beautiful inside. My husband purchased it for me for Valentine’s Day and I leaf through it almost weekly. If you’re not looking to spend $60 on a coffee table book, you can find it discounted here.
The reclaimed wood centerpiece was reallllly pretty. I love a good life edge piece or reclaimed wood accent. They bring in so much warmth and texture to a space. We have a live edge desk, and several reclaimed wood pieces for display and serving. They are always a conversation piece and we love having them in our home.
The black pitcher was a bit heavy in my opinion. Of course, I have smaller hands and I find lifting larger pitchers filled with liquid a challenge. But that’s me. I do think this piece would be perfect as a vase for some cosmos or baby’s breath. The contrast between the black and white or cream of the florals would be stunning.
Crate and Barrel Furniture & Accessories
The stemmed glassware at Crate and Barrel never disappoints. In fact, I could probably write one full post reviewing the stemmed glasses alone. The Edge wine glass holds an astounding 11 0z. We love them and use them all the time.
The black sideboard was another stunning piece. The glass front allowed you to see the contents inside while keeping them dust free, yet accessible.
The outdoor lanterns were one category that blew my mind. There were so many options to choose from, from sizes, to styles to materials. They were all beautiful; it would be hard for me to choose my favorite.
But Wait! There’s more
Let’s talk about these candle holders. I know I posted about the ones from West Elm and how heavy they were. But these by Leanne Ford were absolute fire! The price point was a little more than I anticipated, but they are still brilliant and would look lovely on the sideboard, or a book case or built in.
The floor candelabra was 100% my only regret. At less than $150, this candelabra stands approximately 4 feet tall, and the ironwork was beyond my dreams. I have wished every day since our trip that I’d brought it home. And since we only live an hour away, I may still go back for it. It’s THAT beautiful.
The “Bloom” artwork. Can we just talk about this for a minute? I stood in front of this piece for EVER. The blacks have so much depth – which is amazing. But the taupes and ambers, the browns and grays… they all have so much texture and color depth to them. Even the white just popped off the canvas. If I was in the market for an art piece this size, this would 1000% be the one I would buy. Each one is different, so you really have to look in store, or be okay with receiving a ‘surprise’ if you order online.
The High Low Versions
Everyone loves a good bargain, and while I certainly fit into this category, I have to admit, it is HARD to find better products than the ones listed from Crate and Barrel. The quality and value is really good. However, I do have a couple pieces to work into the High v Low conversation. Some of these products we’ve had for a while and may be unavailable. The point is, if you look hard enough, you may find what you’re looking for, and on a budget.
I’ve already mentioned the Jake Arnold book. While Crate and Barrel sells it for $60, you can purchase it from Amazon for WAY less. My husband purchased mine from Amazon for $32.00. That’s nearly 50% less. Shop around and you may even find it second hand!
Textured Pillows
This abstract throw pillow was purchased about four years ago, and it’s still holding up. I thought it may no longer be available, but you can find it here, and it comes in a couple color ways.
It is a 26×26 euro size pillow, but as you can see, we style it up on our sofa and it looks amazing. Bonus, if you have short legs, it works great as a back support pillow, too!
Display Cabinets
I wish I had better photos of these IKEA cabinets. We purchased two of them, and we use them to display all of our travel items. Everywhere we go, we pick up one unique item to the area, and display it here.
Sometimes it’s Russian stacking dolls, or artwork from London. It could be stone candle holders from the Smokey Mountains, or artwork from Asheville, NC. Either way, these cabinets are amazing. We’ve styled them in the dining room at Christmas, the living room with decor, and now, travel memorabilia.
Coming in at $129.99 (previously priced at $169) these cabinets are a STEAL and are worth the money.
One high low find I’m super excited about is this CozeCube fisherman knit throw from Amazon. I have to tell you, I can’t tell the difference between this one and the one from C&B. The size is similar, the color is similar, the knit is exact… but the price point! Geez Louise!
Where the C&B throw is wool, and the Amazon is a cotton acrylic blend, there is a material quality substitution. But having a wool allergy, that just makes the Amazon version a better fit for me any way. But the difference in price from $149.95 for the C&B blanket to $37.99 for the Amazon blanket… Well, that was a no brainer for us.
Crate and Barrel Style is hard to beat and easy to live with
Well, to say that Crate and Barrel is one of my all time favorite retail stores is an understatement. Every time I visit I leave inspired and ready to restyle my own spaces. If you’ve not visited a store in person, I highly encourage you to go. I promise you’ll find surprises at every turn, and prices that are hard to beat.
