caring for others:
Friends, I have two holiday tips for you today. I like to save up these tried and true helpers and post them together as little bonuses for you. While these tips can be used year round – and I encourage you to do just that – they are especially helpful this time of year. One is a Caring for Others tip, and the other is definitely a Caring for Yourself tip! Want to find out what they are?
Seasonal gift giving…
Sometimes we find ourselves in need of a quick last minute gift for a friend, neighbor, or coworker. We don’t want this person to feel the need to reciprocate, but still want to give a little something. This gift works amazingly well as a hostess gift, too! Are you curious?
It’s flowers. Not expensive florists flowers. No…. it’s the inexpensive grocery store variety. In fact, in my area, we can usually pick up a small bundle for under $10. And that is the beauty of this gift!
Most of us have candles burning this time of year. Some of those candles come in beautiful containers. I like to keep my empty candle containers, clean them with boiling water from my tea kettle, and then save them back. They make excellent vases. Trim a few grocery store flowers, or even use clippings from your own plants, and tuck them inside one of these candle holders. If you’re feeling extra festive, tie on a plaid or velvet ribbon and include a cute gift tag.
You get to recycle an item, and your friend gets a beautiful gift! Win. Win.

Keeping yourself safe…
My second tip is great any time of year, but unfortunately it’s an exceptional tip at this time of year. It is a quick and easy way to keep your wallet safe inside your handbag. Sorry gents.
If you’re like me, you open your handbag, get out your wallet, pay for your items, and then toss your wallet back in. Often I forget to zip or clasp my purse closed because I’m trying to wrangle the receipt, the bags, and move ahead for the next customer in line.
These days many purses come with a key fob strap. They’re intended to attach your keys to so you don’t have to fumble through the bottom of your handbag to find them. Very helpful, indeed.
But there are also many card cases and wallets that have wrist straps or key chain attachments. I have found that attaching my card holder by the key chain to the key fob of my handbag keeps my wallet secured to my purse, and ultimately a little safer.
It makes it very simple to find your wallet, and drop it right back into your bag. Plus, should anyone decide to reach in to get your wallet, it might deter them – or at least alert you to the process. It also means you’re less likely to leave your card case at the register.

Two tips…
So there you have it. Two tiny tips that will keep you safer this holiday season, and help you with gift giving as well!
xo, Billie
