Experience More:
I’ve heard it said that to experience more, you have to give yourself away. Not in a sell-out sort of way, but in a generous, give of yourself sort of way. I believe there is someone inside of each of us who is just bursting to get out. It’s the person who is genuine and thoughtful, who cares for others, who betters their community, who gives without asking anything in return. And when we begin to really lock in to that, we begin to see significant chances. We become a person we love being, and we live a life we truly love. Let’s chat…
Give back…
I want to tell you a little story, and while it may sound boastful, please know that I do not intent for it to sound that way. It is simply a personal example of how you can become a person you love being, and live a life you truly love.
Sometime last summer, probably in September, John and I were lounging beside the pool, and I noticed how many people were reading – not on their kindle, not on an electronic device – they were reading actual books. A few days later we had to be out of town and I happened into a store to do a quick pick up. Outside the front door was one of those little book houses. You know the ones: they look like giant bird houses, or tiny doll houses. People can leave a book as donation, or take a book to enjoy. I thought to myself how great that would be for our community.
When we returned home, I went into our rental office and started a conversation with management. Within a week we had purchased and donated a large bar cart to be used as a book trolley. We started messaging our community informing them that they could donate books to share, or take one to enjoy. Within a few days, the book trolley was filled. And over the last several months, we have seen so many people enjoy this amenity.
Improve lives…
Becoming a person you love being simply means that you give your all to improve the lives of those around you. John and I are both avid readers. My degree is in English, and he is a massive history buff. Our closets and storage locker are literally filled with books. We love reading – and when we see others reading, we want to improve their options without cost.
A few weeks ago, I received a text message from the office asking us to participate in a community campaign, “The people who make The Hub.” Out of 1,000 units, and nearly most of the them filled, we were invited along with a handful of others to share our love of this community.
Of course, that meant sharing the book trolley, but also it gave us the opportunity to do a quick video interview telling the story of this blog. We have the chance to tell our story – our moving adventure – and hopefully inspire others to live outside the box as well. We are living a life we absolutely love!!!
Inspire others…
When becoming a person you love to be, you seek to inspire others. You want them to also live a life they love, as well. In the coming days I have an interview I’ll be posting from my friend, Andrea. She and her husband, Tom, are on their own adventure – and do you know what started their thinking outside the box? It was a 30-minute conversation she and I had in a tiny cafe one day over lunch.
Andrea became our realtor and last April helped us sell our home. Within six months, she and her husband were on their own adventure. Why? Because she found inspiration – and decided to take another step into living a life she loves!
Don’t give up the daydream…
If you follow me on socials (if not, I’ll link them below) you’ll see that I say all the time, “Don’t give up the daydream.” John and I have been scouting out our next move, and we think we’ve found a very real possibility. We’ll be doing a couple more trips to be certain, but on this quest to become a person we love to be, and live a live we love, we must take our own advice and not give up our daydream.
What is your daydream? How would you describe your perfect life? Your perfect day? You can’t live it unless you define it. Talk it out…define it…plan it… But whatever you do, do everything you can to become a person you love being!
