Sometimes our homes can be filled with beautiful things: Everything coordinates, the sofa cushions are fluffed, and the candles are lit. But somehow, in the midst of all the beautiful things something still feels off. Something is missing, undone, simply not right. Our spaces feel unfinished.
In these moments, we don’t necessarily need to shop for something new, we simply need to allow our homes to tell our stories, But how do we do that?
Well, it’s really a simple thing: We pull out the items and objects that mean something special to us. For example, we used to own a painting of a grove of Aspen trees. It was a big box store print, but it reminded each one in our family of a hike we took in a Colorado State Park. We also have a small marble dish (very trendy), but it’s filled with random stones and rocks we’ve collected from various places on our travels.

When we fill our homes with the latest trendy finds, we may implement with perfection a look or an aesthetic, but when we add in our own special pieces or collections, our homes begin to reflect our own personalities. A collected home tells our story better than any trend ever could.
