Are you excited about this friends? I cannot tell you how much I am here for this trend! From the time I was a small girl I have been fascinated with vintage pins or brooches. I can remember older ladies at our church wearing them on their lapels and found them to be such a beautiful addition to an outfit. Over time, this style icon went out of fashion – unless you were of the more mature generation. In fact, wearing a pin or brooch often was recognized as out-dated, old-fashioned, or grandmotherly. But not any more! Because these amazing vintage pins are finally on trend again! Here’s how you can wear them, and how they can take an outfit from drab to fab! Are you ready for this? Let’s get to it!
Vintage Pins on Cuffs and Collars
If you are looking to add a little sparkle, shine, or shimmer to an otherwise run-of-the-mill outfit, try pinning a vintage pin or brooch on your shirt collar or a sleeve cuff. Here are some examples. All of these examples (and so many more) can be found on our Pinterest board Vintage Pins on Trend.

…On Lapels
I think the most common way we see vintage pins styled up in on a lapel. This can be anything from a blazer lapel, the shoulder of a cardigan sweater, or even on an overcoat. Anyway you style it, these are stunning representations, and bring a touch of style and class to what you’re wearing. These examples can be found on our Pinterest board, Vintage Pins on Trend. Wear one single pin, or cluster a grouping of pins together to make as big a statement as you want.

…Over buttons
OH MY GOODNESS! The vintage pin over a button??? G-E-N-I-U-S. If you can find smaller vintage pins or brooches at thrift stores, antique shops, yard sales, or online resellers, this is a really cute way of wearing similar pins together and jazzing up a plain blouse, jacket, or shirt! All of these examples (and so many more) can be found on our Pinterest board Vintage Pins on Trend. I can’t help myself…

Vintage Pins on necklaces
A few years ago, in a land far far away called the 1990’s, there was this amazing trend where we had wide gold necklaces and brooches that would slide on amulet style. You purchased one necklace and swapped out the slides to suit your outfit. I think this style is coming back and you can make it happen with a necklace and a few vintage pins. In fact, if you check the back of antique brooches and pins, you will often find a clasp meant to add to a necklace. Add them to costume jewelry beads, strands of sturdy pearls, or even just a silk scarf… You’re going to love these examples! All of these examples (and so many more) can be found on our Pinterest board Vintage Pins on Trend.

…On hems and pockets
Okay, I think this next option for styling vintage pins may be my favorite! Some times wearing a vintage pin on a collar, a lapel or a shoulder isn’t the most comfortable. At times those antique brooches can be HEAVY… Who wants to tug at a collar or lapel all day because their pin is drooping? Not me! That’s why I think this way is quite fantastic and I can’t wait to wear this trend! As always, these examples can be found on our Pinterest board, Vintage Pins on Trend.

…On hats and shoes and purses, oh my!
If you aren’t one to want to wear a vintage pin on your clothing, these are some really fun ways to add them to your personal style in very unexpected ways! If you find a matching pair of vintage pins, you can add them to a pair of fabric or velvet shoes for some added sparkle. Purse charms are all the rage this season, and adding a vintage pin tied onto your handbag with a scarf or beautiful ribbon would be stunning. Or simply adding a pin or two to a knit hat (or ball cap) this season would really add flair! These examples can be found on our Pinterest board, Vintage Pins on Trend.

Get creative with vintage pins and add a touch of something extra to your outfit. If you have a random solo earring that’s lost its friend, you can always wear a post on a shirt collar in place of a pin. Or, maybe wear the pair of posts on both collars for that added touch. You can find reproduction vintage pins at places like Hobby Lobby – watch for those 50% sales and save yourself a bundle. Check for vintage pins at flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales and estate sales. They usually go for a song and you can build a rather impressive collection on a very small budget. Any way you decide to wear your vintage pins, you’re going to be seeing this trend everywhere this spring and summer!
