To truly live like a local, we try to pick one new restaurant to visit each week, and this week it was Toro of Bowling Green. Toro offers Spanish fusion cuisine at its finest. If you’re in the area and are looking for an authentic meal experience, Toro is the place to go.
The Atmosphere
We were celebrating our anniversary and altogether the experience at Toro was absolutely perfect. The beautifully designed restaurant is a take on modern, and markedly Spanish at the same time. The welcoming staff greeted us immediately as we entered, and seemed genuinely happy to see us.
The Aesthetic
We were seated immediately in an area that was a little more private than the dining room. Everything about the restaurant aesthetic was fantastic, from the flooring to the tables and chairs, everything was well thought out and designed intentionally. High tables, low tables, bar seating, group seating, and outdoor seating. Toro has a place for everyone.
The Service
Our server, Valentina, was exceptionally helpful. While she offered her favorite entry items on the menu, she also recommended several items from the Tapas menu. We went with a selection from the Tapas menu that offered us a sampling of many of the Spanish fusion cuisine flavors on the full menu.
The Food
The food quality was obviously outstanding. The fish ceviche, salmon empanadas, yuca fries, corn fritters, goat cheese poppers, and olive tapenade were some of the best we’ve ever had. Even with the three offerings coming from the Tapas menu, the portions were large enough to share, and we had a bit left over.
If you find yourself in the Bowling Green area – or if, like us, you’re a local and you’re looking for a place to share with out of town guests, Toro is high on our recommendation list. Everything we experienced was astounding; the food, the service, the atmosphere, and the aesthetic. It was a great experience, and one we are excited to share with out-of-town friends.
