The Aviation Heritage Park, located in Bowling Green, Kentucky is a local attraction that is worth the visit. The park consists of five jet fighters and one helicopter, plus the park boasts new exhibits with regular frequency. At the time this post is written, the Aviation Heritage Park houses the Thunderbird Exhibit.
The park is operated on a daily basis by theNational Parks Service, and each volunteer we encountered was exceptionally knowledgable and passionate about their work. The park is operated by donations only, and it is free to visit all of the exhibits.
Plan Your Visit
The Aviation Heritage Park Museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 9 am – 4 pm. Group tours are available by appointment. You can make an appointment for a tour by calling 270.421.4885, or by emailing [email protected]. Tours are not required; you can walk through the outdoor exhibits and indoor museum at your own pace. You are welcome to take photographs during your visit..

The Aviation Heritage Museum has several impressive aircraft for your viewing enjoyment. You can enjoy both indoor and outdoor exhibits, take photos, and occasionally, you will experience ‘open cockpit’ exhibits. Here are a few you can expect to see:

The River Rats On Display
The Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association, better known as “The River Rats”, has 4500-members in their organization, originally formed in 1967 by combat pilots serving in Vietnam. The displays and memorials pay great honor to this astounding group of pilots. The Aviation Heritage Park is the only place where this memorabilia is displayed, and you can experience it all!
